Introduction
Organizations that have adopted functional sizing using functions points benefit from periodic review, instruction and mentoring on more effectively applying function point counting and estimating to their projects. This course offers a customized approach to improving function point analysis within the organization.
Overview
This seminar provides participants with the opportunity to learn or review Function Point counting techniques as they apply to their own environment. Instruction will be supplemented by counting the organization’s projects.

Day 1 – Introduction to Function Point Counting
- Introduction to Function Points

- The Fundamentals of Function Point Counting
- Overview of the Counting Process
- Application Boundaries
- Function Definition, Identification
- Adjustment and Complexity Factors
- Types of Function Point Counts
- Develop improved estimating techniques using Function Points
- Resources for comparing FP estimating within and across industries
Day 2 – Applications
(based on actual projects provided by participants, content will vary based on their environment)
Apply techniques learned in Day 1 to actual projects, analyze based on use cases and requirements. Focus to be on enhancement and integration projects.
- Primary focus on Use Cases and Package Integration; Client-Server, GUI, OO, Web/e-Business, and Data Warehouse applications secondary
- Understand the principles, implications and differences behind these techniques and environments
