Introduction
This CMMI Training course will increase attendees understanding of the CMMI® and how to apply it quickly and in their context. In addition, it will help plan CMMI-based improvement programs more effectively and manage the change to attendees’ organizations.

Overview
The SEI Capability Maturity Model Integration for Software describes a process framework that organizations can use to incrementally or dramatically improve their ability to develop and maintain quality products and services. Furthermore CMMI models are an integration of best practices from proven discipline-specific process improvement models, including the CMM for Software, EIA 731, and the Integrated Product Development CMM.
This course fulfills a prerequisite requirement for any course requiring an official SEI Introductory CMMI course.
This three-day course, based on latest version of the CMMI, accomplishes the following:
- Introduces attendees to the fundamental concepts of the CMMI Model
- Reviews the five maturity levels and their characteristic process areas
- Examines the structure of the continuous and staged representations
- Illustrates the benefits of process improvement
- Outlines Metrics and Measurement principles crucial to support CMMI effectiveness
The course prepare attendees to make the process and organizational changes necessary to support process area implementation. The course is composed of lectures and class exercises with ample opportunity for participant questions and discussions. The course also identifies issues that should be addressed in performing process improvement as structured by the CMMI.

Prerequisites
Participants must have knowledge of software engineering and management including exposure to software quality assurance, software configuration management, and basic management principles.
Course Instructor and Materials
A SEI-trained DCG CMMI consultant and/or authorized lead assessor teaches the course. On the first day of the course, participants will receive CMMI: Guidelines for Process Integration and Product Improvement and a course notebook with copies of the course slides.
Availability and Schedule
Class size is up to 20 participants. Introduction to CMMI is a three day course with each day starting at 9:00 am and ending at 5:30 pm.
Successful Completion
Successful completion of this course requires that participants actively participate in classroom discussions and exercises all three days, not missing any classroom time.
