Leap forward during lean
times...
Business process improvement is easy to delay during good economic times because, well,
things are good and wasteful practices tend to be tolerated. During
lean economic times everyone's survival sense is heightened and the
"do more with less" mantra becomes the conventional wisdom.
CIOs and their teams can take advantage of lean times by starting IT
value rich initiatives that normally would be resisted by the culture.
However, DCG experience strongly suggests that key to success is making
sure the business process improvement (BPI) initiative targets,
performance frustrations, or challenges when addressed, will
provide real benefits that will last and strengthen the organization
when times get better.
For example, a recent DCG client experienced a 90% reduction in project
adminstration overhead due to improved etimation accuracy. A win for
managers and developers both.
The link below, to a CIO Insight article, provides
additional interesting similar information.
If you want to discuss what type of BPI initiative makes sense for your
organization for 2009, e-mail DCG at info@davidconsultinggroup.com.
